NAUTILIA NITRATIREDUCENS
| Class: | Epsilon Proteobacteria |
| Genus: | Nautilia |
| Species: | Nautilia nitratireducens |
| Description: | Nautilia nitratireducens,a thermophilic, anaerobic, chemosynthetic, nitrate-ammonifying bacterium isolated from a deep-sea hydrothermal vent .Cells are rod-shaped (1-.5 µm long, 0.3-0.5 µm wide).Motile by means of one or more flagella. Obligate anaerobe.Gram-negative-staining. Catalase-positive.Growth occurs under strictly anaerobic, chemolithoautotrophic conditions in the presence of H2 and CO2 with nitrate, thiosulfate, sulfur or selenate as terminal electron acceptors. |
