| Description: | Cells are Gram-stain-negative rods, measuring about 2.3μm in size and are motile by a polar flagellum. Culture suspension is brownish red. Pigments include bacteriochorophyll a and carotenoids of the spirilloxanthin series, and the photosynthetic membrane system is of the vesicular type. No addition of vitamin B12 is required for growth. |
