Regional HabitatFrequently occurs in cultivated fields and waste-places in sandy soil. Distribution: Jhunjhunu, Sikar, Tonk, Sirohi, Udiapur, Dungarpur, Jaipur, Bhilwara, Swai-Madhopur, Bharatpur, Kota and Jhalawar districts of Rajasthan.
DescriptionErect/diffuse, 10-30 cm high annual herbs. Branches obscurely angular, scabrescent, tinged purple. Leaves: opposite, sessile; stipules small, membranous, truncate, bristles few; lamina tapering at base, linear, linear-lanceolate, surface glabrous adaxially, scabrescent abaxially, apex acute, margins recurved, scabrous. Flowers: 0.2 cm long, axillary, 2-3 fascicled, often solitary; peduncles 0.5-1.2 cm long, pedicels 0.2-0.5 cm long; bracts at the base of pedicels 0.1 cm long, filiform; calyx- sparsely pubescent, 0.2 cm long; tube ovoid, 0.1 cm long; lobes 4, 0.1 cm long, triangular, acute, ciliate; corolla- tubular, 0.2 cm long, tube slender, lobes 4, oblong, 0.05 cm long, obtuse; stamens- 4, 0.4 cm long, filament short, included; style- 0.1 cm long; stigma bifid, hairy. Fruits: capsules globose, didymous, 0.2 cm across, top not protruded beyond calyx, glabrous. Seeds: pale-brown, 0.01 cm long. Flowers and fruits appears during August-November.
