DescriptionMiddle-sized, deciduous trees. Bark: grey, exfoliating in irregular flakes. Wood: white and soft. Leaves: turning yellow before falling; stipules oblong with a broad base, caducous; petioles 2.5-7.6 cm long; lamina tapering at the base; elliptic-ovate, 10-25 x 6-24 cm, surfaces pubescent, lateral-vein 7-10 on each side, apex acuminate. Flowers: fragrant; bracteoles minute; pedicels slender; calyx minute, pubescent; corolla pubescent abaxially, tube slender; stamens 5, inserted below the throat of the corolla; ovary 2-celled; ovules many; style slender, long, exserted; stigma capitate. Fruits: capsules, 2-2.5 cm long recurved pedicels, ellipsoid, reddish-brown when ripe, 2-valved, many seeded. Seeds: lenticular, winged around. Flowers appears during August-September and fruits appears during October-February.
