Description | Glabrous, annual often perennial herbs; rootsock thick, woody. Leaves: sessile or shortly petioled, 4-15 cm long, oblong-obovate, sinuate/pinnatifid, glaucous abaxially, segments 3-7, teeth rarely white, cartilaginous. Flowers: 1.1-1.5 cm long, borne in panicles; stalk 0.2-2.2 cm long with few ovate bracts, joints of stalk bracteate; Invol. bracts 3-4 seriate, margins broadly scarious, outer series ovate, inner series oblong, apex sub-acute; florets 20-25 in number, fertile; pappus white, slender, soft, 0.8-1.0 cm long, copious, united at the base; corolla 1.2 cm long, tube 0.8 cm long, ligule oblong, 3-5 toothed; anthers0.3 cm long, obtuse at apex; style 1.1 cm long, branches linear, sparsely hairy below stigmatic branches; cypsels columnar, 0.2-0.3 cm long, 10-ribbed, ribs minutely serrulate. Flowers and fruits appears during September-March.
