Regional HabitatOccasionally occurs in waste-places and cultivated fields. Distribution: Jaipur and Sawai Madhopur districts of Rajasthan.
DescriptionHerbaceous, 20-50 cm high. Stem: slender and smooth. Leaves: mostly radical, sessile, base tapering, obovate or oblong, pinnatifid, 1.3-9.5 x 0.5-3.5 cm, surfaces glaucous, rounded at apex, margins sinuate-toothed. Flower: capitula borne solitary on slender stalk; Invol. bracts 2-3-seriate, margins broad, scarious; those of outer series ovate, 0.3 cm long, acute; of inner series 1.0 cm long, linear-oblong, sub-acute; florets 0.9-1.2 cm long; pappus 0.6 cm long, slender, soft, white, longer than the cypsels; ligules narrow, teeth blunt; anthers-bases shortly setaceo-acuminate; style 0.8 cm long, branches subulate. Fruits: cypsels compressed, 0.3-0.4 cm long, faintly ribbed, muriculate, black, tapering into a beak, which is dilated into whitish cup like disc beneath the pappus. Flowers and fruits appears during September-December.
