Apigenin-7-glucoside and its 7-gentiobioside; luteolin-7-glucoside and its 7-gentiobioside, 7-rutinoside, 7,3'-diglucoside, 7,4'-diglucoside and 7-gentiobioside-4'-glucoside.

Regional HabitatCommonly found on loose sand-dunes after rains, often forming large patches. Distribution: Ganganagar, Jhunjhunu, Barmer, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Ajmer, Jaipur and Bharatpur districts.
DescriptionErect, 20-70 cm high, glaucous, perennial herbs, latex white, woody at base. Stem: sulcate, fistular, branched. Leaves: sessile; radical ones rosulate, attenuate-auricuiate at base, 2.5-7.5 x 8.3-10.0 cm, lobes unequal, irregularly spinulose-toothed, surfaces glabrous, apex acuminate; cauline leaves linear or runcinate, 2.2-10.0 x 0.2-1.9 cm, margins sinulose. Flowers: capitula 0.5-0.6 cm across, borne terminally on divaricate branches; stalk 1.2-4.5 cm long, bracteate bracts broadly ovate, 0.15-1 cm, acute; Involucre 0.5-1.5 cm long, campanulate; bracts 3-4-seriate, 3-4 in each series, glabrous apex acute, those of outer series broadly ovate, 0.3 x 0.3 cm; of intermediate series 0.4-0.8 x 0.2 cm, oblong; of inner series oblong-lanceolate, 1.1-1.6 x 0.3 cm, obtuse/sub-acute, margins scarious; receptacle 0.4 cm across, concave; florets fertile; pappus hairs bi-seriate, 0.6-1.5 cm long; inner ones few, longer and rigid; those of outer series numerous, soft; corolla 1.3 cm long; tube 0.5 cm long, those of peripheral greyish on outer surfaces with 2-4 parallel, purple veins upto apex; anthers 0.3 cm long, thickened, portions of filament very short; style 1.0-1.2 cm long, much exserted, stigmatic branches hairy, filiform, recurved. Fruits: cypsels oblong, contracted below the apex, 0.5 cm long, strongly 10-ribbed, ribs papilose, 3-4 toothed at base. Flowers and fruits appears during August-February.
