Sapovirus

Sapoviruses are caliciviruses that together with the Norwalk virus.Sapovirus (SaV) is a common cause of acute viral gastroenteritis worldwide, and SaV outbreaks have become more frequent in recent years.SaV have been identified worldwide and human SaV strains are classified in genogroups I, II, IV and V.outbreak of acute gastroenteritis due to SaV occurrence.

Organism Details:
Shape and Size
27 39 nm in diameter,classic cup-shaped ,
Genome Information
Sapovirus Mc10 is a positive-strand viruses ( GI:-45545440) has a 7458 bp a positive-stranded single stranded linear RNA.The genome structure consists of 2 genes and 2 proteins.The GC content of Sapovirus Mc10 about 51.5%.
Food Source
Pathological Factor
Based on complete capsid gene sequences,The emergence of sapoviruses may be explained by the genetic variability of SaV strains. SaV strains are divided in five genogroups (GI to GV), of which genogroup III has been found to infect porcine species, whereas GI, GII, GIV, and GV are known to infect humans.
