"Open Source Tools in Bioinformatics"
21 - 23 January 2015
Today, a large number of open source tools are available related to different
areas of Bioinformatics such as sequence analysis, genome analysis, gene
finding, structural analysis, docking, molecular modeling etc.
Open source software is software that can be freely used, changed, and shared (in modified or unmodified form) by anyone. These tools have their source code freely available for further modification and enhancement. These tools can be redistributed to anyone under open source licenses like GNU General Public License (GPL). This open source helps to increase quality and usefulness of software via community review.
This workshop will enrich your knowledge with open source Bioinformatics software available for the analysis of biological sequence, Genome and Protein Structure. The objective of the program is to provide participants with an insight into tools through guided practical training. The workshop will feature morning lectures, demonstrations with evening hands-on session in the lab.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
The participants of the course may be students, research scholars, faculty and industry personnel with background in Life Sciences and/or Information Technology. The workshop is selfcontained and does not assume any special knowledge of the subject.
Besides BISR faculty, eminent guest speakers from renowned Bioinformatics Centres of India will deliver lectures and conduct demonstration on various aspects on Bioinformatics.
HOW TO APPLY
Interested candidates may apply by sending filled application form along with the DD of Rs 2000/- latest by January 15, 2015 to the Convener. The confirmation of participation will be informed through emails only.
