Announces
One-Day National Workshop
on
"NGS Data Analysis in Cancer Genomics"
16 January 2016
ABOUT ACCOMMODATION
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The recent development and advancement of high throughput genomics
technologies has cleared the path of researchers to take a comprehensive
and high-resolution view of genetic and epigenetic changes present in cancer
cells. Now, with the reduced cost of whole genome and whole exome
sequencing, it is relatively easy and reliable to detect and validate rare
variants in various devastating and complicate diseases like cancer.
Therefore, cancer genomics has excited the world to find the reason and
proceed towards the effective cure of genetic alteration in human genomes.
The purpose of the workshop is to explore current state of art scenario of the
understanding of cancer genomics through DNA Sequence data analysis. This
will cover the methods describing from the scratch of collecting samples
through the building of data analysis pipeline using Genome Analysis Tool Kit
(GATK) and discovery of new and rare disease variants with Variant
Annotation, analysis and Search Tool (VAAST). The session will include the
demonstration of various steps of data analysis including description of
various sequence file formats followed by quality control and generation of
variant calls. We will also describe the uses of variant call files for the
detection of various genes using case control study with and without
pedigree information.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
The participants of the course may be students, research scholars, faculty and industry personnel with background in Life Sciences and/or Information Technology. The workshop is selfcontained and does not assume any special knowledge of the subject.
