Adenoviruses E

Adenoviruses are medium-sized, nonenveloped (naked) viruses composed of a nucleocapsid and a double-stranded linear DNA genome. There are 55 described serotypes in humans, which are responsible for 5 10% of upper respiratory infections in children, and many infections in adults as well.In humans, there are 55 accepted human adenovirus types (HAdV-1 to 55) in seven species (Human adenovirus A to G). Different types/serotypes are associated with different conditions:

Pathological Factor
Adenoviruses represent the largest nonenveloped viruses. Because of their large size, they are able to be transported through the endosome (i.e. envelope fusion is not necessary). The enteric adenovirus causes 5-20% of the gastroenteritis in young children, and is the second most common cause of gastroenteritis in this age group. By 4 years of age, 85% of all children have developed immunity to the disease.

Conjunctivitis (HAdV-B and D), gastroenteritis (HAdV-F serotypes 40 and 41), bronchiolitis, or pneumonia.
